About Oshimili South Local Government Council

Oshimili South Local Government Area is one of the twenty-five Local Government Areas within Delta State, located in the Niger Delta Region/South-South geopolitical zone of Nigeria.
Historically, it was initially part of the Asaba Division in the Southern Protectorate during Colonial Nigeria. Subsequently, it was included in the Western Region following the country's division into Three Regions by the Richard's Constitution of 1946.
In 1963, it became part of the Mid-Western Region, later transitioning to Mid-Western State in 1967. The area was incorporated into Bendel State in 1976, emerging from the former Asaba Division as Oshimili Local Government. With the creation of Delta State in 1991 from the defunct Bendel State, it officially became Oshimili South Local Government in 1996.
